Dear JLT board member!
On 10th of June the show Proof of Art opens at OÖ Art in Linz, Austria. Curated by Jesse Damiani, Fabian Mueller and Markus Reindl.
The show will explore NFTs, crypto and in their show description: “The aim of this exhibition is to chart the origins of NFTs and their development, from formative attempts with digital technologies, through early artistic experiments with the blockchain, to current crypto art.”.
It includes a range of artists such as Lynne Hershman Leeson, Nam June Paik, Primavera de Filippi, Harm van den Dorpel (JLT board member), Simon Denny (JLT board member), Kevin Abosch, Sarah Meyohas, !Mediengruppe Bitnik ((JLT board member) and more.
For the show we’re making six panels in 3x2,5meters installed in the entrance stair-case of the show, here are their mockups:
Together with Paul Bille we’ve prepared two didactic panels, two JLT memory ones and two JLT abstractions. And as the production time for this was so tight, these 6 panels have already been sent to production, as there was no time to make the proposal before. So the purpose of this vote is to decide which of two visual representations work the best, image based vs abstraction.
In this case, one could argue that both work well and fill different functions, but for determining the future of the visual representation of JLT I thought its best to make a vote about this.
The two didactic ones. (not up for vote this time..)
The two image based ones.
The idea here is to use any important memory / moment in the past and include it into the JLT universe. Here displaying my breakfast the other day, and a Sunday walk on the Presqu'île du Perron here in Bretagne, where I'm currently at.
The two abstract ones.
This is based on a new JLT hashing algorithm that I’ve been working on, each word gets a specific unique and always the same visual representation. These are saying Invest and Jonas Lund. Here it's easy to imagine followups, where we can generate a lot of these abstractions to represent specific aspects of the JLT universe, such as you the board member or other key terminology.
As soon as the show has opened and I’ll get install images, I’ll update the proposal with those. Curious to hear what the future holds for the JLT universe.
